Software Engineering: Difference between Software & Software Engineering

Image
Software engineering is the branch of computer science that deals with the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications. Software engineers apply engineering principles and knowledge of programming languages to build software solutions for end users. Software engineers design and develop computer games, business applications, operating systems, network control systems, and middleware—to name just a few of the many career paths available. Software is a set of data or computer instructions, put together to form a single tool which specializes in something. Some examples of software are Microsoft Windows, WhatsApp, Chrome, Skype, Call of Duty and the Quora app. Software engineering is the process of making software; or putting together the set of instructions to form software. It can also be called programming, or software development.

Engineering: What do they do?

Engineering is a discipline dedicated to problem solving. Our built environment and infrastructure, the devices we use to communicate, the processes that manufacture our medicines, have all been designed, assembled or managed by an engineer. You will find engineers working on advanced prosthetics, creating new materials, investigating engine efficiency and alternative fuels, constructing bridges or developing clean water systems. From satellites to cell membranes engineers use maths and science to achieve extraordinary things and find solutions to some of the world's most complex challenges.

Software: How Does it work?

Software, in its broadest sense, is a set of instructions or programs that inform a computer how to do specific tasks. Computer programs that operate on personal computers, mobile phones, tablets, and other smart devices are referred to as software.                                                                             Software is a word that refers to all of a computer's functional aspects that are not related to its physical parts (hardware). Scripts, programs, applications, and a set of instructions are all terms used to describe software. Everything that "runs" on a computer is software, from an operating system to a diagnostic tool, video game, or app
